Careers For The Future
Just like life itself, careers are constantly evolving. In order to stay current with the changes, we must prepare our children to be flexible with their plans for the future. Exposing them to a variety of skills will help them gain a mirage of knowledge that will set the stage for future learning in the path they choose.
The need for computer skilled employees is at at an all time high. Computer programmers, graphic designers, data entry in all venues and designers are all in demand jobs. Begin teaching children computer skills at an early age. The better jump they have on the industry, the better their chances are of getting a great paying job.
Medical fields are also hurting for employees. Recently there has been a sharp drop in licensed doctors, nurses, and emergency personnel such as emt’s and paramedics. These jobs require anywhere from one year of college to 8 years. The more college usually results in higher pay for the medical field. Kids need to be taught the benefits of working now with lower pay vs working later for higher pay. They also need to consider what they want to do. if they don’t like being couped up, working on an ambulance may be the better choice, or if they like the challenge of making things work, surgery may be their calling.
Corporate jobs are also in need of skilled employees. Does your child like numbers or money? Finance or marketing may be just the thing for him or her. This career path pays very well with about 4 years of college. This is a very high stress and fast paced world so the person looking to get into the corporate rat race needs to be able to handle the life. ADHD adults have excelled at these jobs.
No matter what your child wants to be when they grow up, the road there begins now. Laying a good foundation of work ethics and responsibilities is a major key to success. All the smarts in the world will not guarantee employment. They must have the discipline to complete tasks on time and with quality work.
